Description
Paul and Dreen Tozer welcome you to their Grade II listed building, Victoria Spa Lodge. An attractive Victorian building, originally built as a hotel and Spa in1837. The 4 star, silver award accommodation is situated in a country setting overlooking Stratford Upon Avon canal, which is 1.4 miles from Stratford Upon Avon town centre and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
Victoria Spa Lodge has seven beautifully appointed bedrooms, all en-suite, having flat screen televisions, free WiFi Internet access, radio-alarms, hair-dryers, hot beverage makers, central heating and full fire certificate. We offer a full English breakfast or vegetarian option that you can enjoy in our most elegant antique furnished dining room. The building is non-smoking throughout and has ample parking spaces surrounded by a Victorian garden.
The building has history, Queen Victoria stayed here as a guest one month before ascending the throne and graciously gave her name to the hotel: her coat-of-arms is built into the gables. Captain Bruce Bairnsfather (cartoonist creator of ‘Old Bill’ during the Great War) lived here, as did Sir Barry Jackson (founder of the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and director of the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1947-48.)
Stratford is centrally located, on Shakespeare’s Country doorstep, an ideal location to visit the Cotswolds, N.E.C, N.A.C, Coventry and Warwick. Close to major airports such as Birmingham and Coventry airports. 4 minutes walk from the park and ride bus service, with buses to the town centre every 15 minutes.
We are equidistant from all of the Shakespeare properties, and just five minutes drive from the theatres and restaurants. Days can be spent exploring the beautiful Cotswolds or the castles of Warwick and Kenilworth.
