Breakfast Was Lukewarm And Undercooked And There Appeared To Be...
Breakfast was lukewarm and undercooked and there appeared to be no option to order separate items other than buffet. Not all staff were fluent in English which also made it difficult at breakfast. Hotel looked tired and the big visiting party put a strain on the facilities and staff at certain times on both days. Have still not received a copy of my bill and credit card receipt which were to be sent on afterwards as system was down apparently. I would just about recommend hotel because of location but it appears to be struggling to present itself as a good 4 star !

Popular for its shopping streets and architecture, its floral summer season and quirky open air events, Winchester is most well known for its eleventh century cathedral and for the Great Hall which for over 600 years has housed the mysterious Round Table. Winchester College is the oldest continuously running school in the country, whilst the Hospital of St Cross - a medieval almshouse - still offers the Wayfarers Dole to travellers as it has done for more than eight centuries. Home of good food, birthplace of the modern game of cricket, resting place of author Jane Austen and inspiration to the many craft-makers and artists who live here.

Distance 1.64 miles (2.62 km)
The "Royal", being a private members club, is pleased to welcome visiting golfers, societies and corporate events. Founded in 1888, it is one of the oldest, and the only Royal club, in Hampshire. Relocated to it's current position in 1901, it is just a couple of miles from the centre of Winchester, the ancient capital of England. The course is a testing and enjoyable challenge for golfers of all abilities, made more difficult when the wind blows - with a par of 71 (SSS 70 on white tees) it is 6216 yards long! Occupying one of the highest points in the area there are some spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. Built on chalk downs the course drains exceptionally well and is very rarely closed due to heavy rainfall.

A large practice area including driving bays, chipping green, practice bunker and a putting green are available for members and visitors pleasure.
